I bought my 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 in late 2017. By 2019, I had gotten my licence and done about 5000kms on it before I did my first mod.
I got an Akrapovic Stainless Steel Slip-on Exhaust, which gives the bike a much nicer (and louder) sound. It was a 15min install and was 100% worth it.
Following that I got myself a tail tidy, which removes the rear fender and relocates the number plate higher up to make it look a lot nicer and more aggressive.

When I got to about 9000kms, I crashed. Went off the road in a corner and into a fence. I was alright, but sustained bruising on my entire left thigh.
My crash caused significant damage to most of the body panels, destroyed my headlight, and got gravel wedged between the wall of my rear tyre and wheel.

So, we trailered the bike home, and I set out stripping off the broken fairings to see if there was any more damage - luckily there wasn’t. This meant that I could start my research into some new fairings. I found a full set for around $600AUD from eBay and figured they’d do the job.

After bolting them on, and replacing my headlight, globes and performing some general maintenance, the repairs totalled to about $1600AUD. I think the bike looks significantly better, and the fairings are lighter than the stock ones too.

I do have future plans to get some new short, adjustable clutch and brake levers, along with a new gear lever and rearset.
